Kitchen Floors

We found in our recent DIY that the type of floor your choose for your Kitchen can really make a difference between beautfiful and okay. Most people tend to put ceramic tile because it is cheap and easy to clean. We went a different route, after spending an hour walking around Floor & Decor I found some granite tiles that were on major sale. Now I know granite is usually loved on countertops but wait until you see it on your floor. We got it for the same price we would have spent on a ceramic and people say it is their favorite part of the kitchen. The only downfall, it is cold to your feet so you better wear slippers :)

Here are pictures from our kitchen

Maintenance: Since granite is pourish it needs to be treated with a granite sealer just like a countertop but once that is done it is so easy to clean. The sealer is realy cheap and you just wipe it on with a rag and let it dry.

Another cute, but slightly more expensive option I found was tile the resembles wood. I have seen it in many DIY shows on TV and they sell it at Floor & Decor. Comes about three different colors. Wood floor is not always a good option in areas that will get wet often so this is a great alternative.

Kitchen Before & After

So after almost a month of no cooking (no salsa) and staying up all hours of the night every day designing and assembling; our kitchen is in the last stage of completition. We removed a wall that seperated the kitchen and the living room to give us that open light feel. We made a new design using the IKEA online design program. We ripped out everything and started from scratch. Our biggest challenge was making a new modern kitchen with as low as budget as we could do and I think we have accomplished our goal. This has been very tiring but worth the labor. Scroll down for the progression.....

Let us know what you think, we would love to hear all your comments......

Kitchen Remodel

Here is an update from the last post we had taken down a wall in the kitchen to open it up. Well we have moved past that and are now starting the floor. We also decided like crazy people we are to replace the cabinets along the wall where the sink was, they had no more life left to use in them. Here is our latest mess!!!
